August Games is a tabletop design group and publisher of hobby games based out of fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. We are a group of people who simply love board games and want to make the sort of games we want to play – games that are elegant in design with compelling themes and above all – FUN!

We are really happy to see all of you getting your copies of Rise.  We apologize to those who got their packages late.  QLM was REALLY backed up and shipping is the slowest we can remember in recent memories.  Again, if you have questions please email Dan at [email protected]

Freight Cost Recovery

The printing for Rise of the Gnomes was completed in early December and we ran head first into the freight crisis.  The freight costs from china were $25,000 higher than our past experience and budget.  We did not collect enough funds to cover this increase.  This put us in a very tough position.   The thought of any of you NOT getting the game we spend years making was not an option.  Daniel generously paid the extra cost out of his own pocket (be sure to thank his understanding wife).  

So, what's next?  We have decided to run campaign either on Kickstarter or on our web site in the late summer to recover a portion of the funds so we can proceed with our other projects.  Five new print and play races will be offered (perhaps more) as well as the opportunity for ordering extra copies of the game.  We also kicked around the idea of offering a donation level where you will work with Daniel to create custom print and play races for you and your friends.  What do you think of this?  Is this something you would be interested in?

Free Scenarios

Now some good news.   Here are the first two coop/solo scenarios for Rise of the Gnomes.   Daniel has promised to put together some competitive/cutthroat scenarios in the late summer.

  • Invasion - You mix things up a bit and invade the Gnomeland.
  • Gnome Verses Many - One of the players takes control of the Gnomes and the other players work together to protect your brewery empires.

Hello all!  We are thrilled to see all of you starting to get your games.  We hope you have as much playing them as we did making them. 

We will be at Kublacon this weekend (San Francisco Bay area) and would love to play a game with our backers.    Email Dan at [email protected] and coordinate with him directly.   We have two prototypes (Hero City and Goblin Rocket Rally), Rise of the Gnomes and Backyard Chickens with us. Sorry for the delay but shipping has been very clogged up and people are overloaded so getting a response takes a lot longer than normal.   Here is the update


United States, Canada & RotW from Quartermaster

Quartersmaster has already started sending out tracking numbers but it is still in process.  The current plan is fulfillment in mid to late May.  We'll let you know if anything changes there as things can come up unexpectedly.


UK/EU Fulfillment from Spiral Galaxy

We had some games damaged in Freight so we are waiting on Hubstock to ship over replacement games.  They are standing by for the missing games and hope to get things moving in the next few weeks.


Australia/New Zealand from Aetherworks

Fulfillment is Complete. 


Asia from VFI

The timeline varies greatly by country.   Here are the highlights.

Hong Kong - May

Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan - June

The Rest - June / Early July.

Shipping Update

We finally have some firmer timelines on shipping.  Here is my update from QLM:


United States, Canada & Rest of the World from QML

Fulfillment Timeline/Status: The timeline for this one still shows a late April QML arrival. With that timeline we would be looking at an early May fulfillment unless there are port delays or voyage delays that push our arrival timeline back. 


UK/EU Fulfillment from Spiral Galaxy

Fulfillment Timeline/Status: We're still on track at this point for arrival at the warehouse in the next week or so barring any delays. This would still put us on track for a mid April fulfillment in this lane. 


Australia/New Zealand from Aetherworks

Fulfillment Timeline/Status: Fulfillment is underway here! There are only a few orders left to be fulfilled.


Asia from VFI 

Fulfillment Timeline/Status: This one is currently set to begin packing next week. The timeline for the VFI process is a bit strange as I've said in the past as they pack up a pallet for each region and then book consolidated freight for that pallet. 

Rise of the Gnomes Favorite at Dundracon

We brought our pre-production copy of Rise of the Gnomes and ran it four times with great success.  The Hungry Gamer was in two of the games and his posted some high praise for the game on his channel this morning.  Check it out!
